Hydrology Department

We must connect the dots between climate change, water scarcity, energy shortages, global health, food security and women’s empowerment. Solutions to one problem must be solutions for all.
——Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon (2011)

Hydrology is the scientific study of the movement, distribution, and quality of water on Earth and other planets. Water can change states among liquid, vapor, and ice at various places in the hydrologic cycle, with these processes happening in the blink of an eye and over eons. Through its Hydrology Department, the PMRNI has embarked on a year-long study, conducted via teleconference, to understand our behaviors around water and the implications of this precious resource in our daily lives. An in-depth analysis of these observations and results, that deviate from the expected norm, blazes a trail that can only lead to progress.

On the WATER page you will find information and photographs that document research activities, samples collected, and teleconference participants.
